January Newsletter '26

Hello to one and all - I hope your 2026 is off to a good start! It's been a stormy month weatherwise, but all the better to wash away the past and make room for new beginnings. We released a new LP at the end of January, and thus we set out on a new journey - it's all very exciting, everything seems undecided, public opinion on our new sound is yet to be gauged. I must admit that the album launch didn't go as smoothly as I'd like but nonetheless it's exciting to get it out there. As you'll find out later, we’re setting off on another recording odyssey straight away... It's fitting that I'm writing this on a train as I've spent much of the month in transit - me and Ava began the year in Bucharest and I've split the rest of January between London &  Southampton. The land of new opportunity, the screaming homeless woman, oat flat whites... the land of teenage ghosts, memories forming pinkish fog down every lane, blueberry lattes. I must say it w...

December Newsletter

A rather mighty hello to you all - HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Got to be mighty in the face of adversity - the mighty are often not without fear, but rather act in spite of it. We are, of course, corresponding via the FOUR BLOKES NEWSLETTER for the last time in 2025! I hope the Christmas special was a doozy, perhaps slightly sentimental admist sherry-red hedonism. This December edition will be without grandiose notions and will merely recap the events of the 12th month. They were only feint to begin with - an idea for the structure, arrangement and lyrical content of a song called "Dockers" was what came to me on the tube into Uni - but nevertheless it is nice to move away from the 14 tracks on the second LP th...

Christmas Newsletter 2025

HO HO HO! MEEEEEEEEERRY CHRISTMAS! A special time of year when, on the supposed birthday of a religious figure you may or may not be fond of (I personally think Jesus was pretty alright, a good socialist, although he had a tendency to self-mythologise) we all return from our adult lives to the family of origin, sit around an indoor tree, remove the shiny paper and ribbons used to conceal the true nature of objects, and drink and eat ourselves into a catatonic state. Really really spectacular - my favorite part of Christmas day is the wee small hours of the morning, 9 bottles of real ale deep, watching auld crap on YouTube in my new polo neck shirt... hope everyone got the gifts they wanted by the way. If nothing else, you got a card from Four Blokes. As with all Four Blokes Newsletters this is essentially an anecdotal recount of events in chronological order, only this time we're doing a whistle-stop tour of ALL OF 2025! Christmas is a good time to reflect on the year's event...
