Feburary Newsletter

How the mighty fall to their knees

Hello me old muckers... stinking up the joint, scaring other people trying to use the public restroom with smell alone.

Feburary was a bit of a dud in the end. Nothing disastrously bad happened - and disastrously bad things DO frequently happen to this band - but progress was slow...

Working on a song - part 1 of 2

The highlight of the month would have to be the composition of our first Spanish language song "Una Vida, Con Ella", not only due to it's flamenco rhythms and cherryade coloured melody but also as it is the final song to be written for the second album. God knows what I will write for now - possibly an arthouse solo album exclusively for release via satellite. "Una Vida, Con Ella" was written at a keyboard for a semi-acoustic guitar using a mix of pre-exisiting knowledge of the Spanish language and Google translate. Don't worry, I had our resident Iberian check it all over... my Spanish is spic and span. Below is an excerpt -

una vida con ella,

mi noche estrellada

hay polvo de estrellas

en sus ojos en la mañana

bostezando y estirándose

paz, la erupción

como un trago de cafe

comienza un vals en mi corazón

te amo.... te amo (3/4)

This is likely to be the next song we record, alongside adding vocals and synth bass to "I've Settled On Molly", which Aston has now finished.

Working on a song - part 2 of 2

Beyond the writing of that song there is precious little else to report, my little lotus flowers... there were two further rehearsals for the upcoming gig (to be announced in early March), during which the boys have perfected the returning material and begun to work on 2nd album songs. It is nice to be back in the shed which, in it's own special way, is the spiritual home of Four Blokes.

Learning from the best - Mr Guitar

To summarise this short notice, I wrote a song in Spanish and we rehearsed twice. There have been no further advancements on the massively delayed debut album as Finny D. Producer seems to be unable to recieve Tiargz's emails for some reason. Hmm. We keep the faith! Four Blokes will release a debut album at some point - I pinky promise.

Looking forward to March, I foresee two further recordings for the 2nd album and 2 or 3 further rehearsals as well as the official announcement of Four Blokes' next concert appearance. I also happen to gather a series of images from across the known world.

The kind of relaxed pose he likes to do

Thank you for your time and apologies it was a bit of a wank newsletter! Hopefully you've gotten over this cold that's going round, not nice at all to be sniffling and sneezing and coughing - dry wheezy throats and wet doggy noses. I'm of the opinion that Spring is on it's way, the afternoons will be bathed in golden-pinkish sunlight and the first buds will bloom. Hold tight the mandem.
