May Newsletter

Image
¡Hola muchachos y muchachas! It's nice to correspond with you once more, another addition of the monthly newsletter, this time concerning "May". The boys have been hard at work, in their endeavour to make new hit records - but to little avail... find inclosed all the latest news on Shite and Arse Ltd recording artists Four Blokes. Throughout the month I have been pursuing the next gig - members of the current lineup have all extended their loan spell, believing a massive improvement on the previous performance is possible. I have not recieved a single response from any venue or booking agent, EXCEPT this email: God forbid a man strum! No room at the inn for strummers... maybe in a few months when the tide changes and he has too many string quartets you'll see Four Blokes in the big smoke. I sincerely hope we can get something booked in soon simply because I love playing live. Swim and sleep like a shark 🦈  I also celebrated my 20th birthday - felt sad and weird to be...

April Newsletter

Image
April - a smasheroo month for the Blokes, and thus a bumper monthly newsletter! Featuring a larger selection of full-colour photographs then ever... and all the secret stories that form each thread of ours lives. The moments in between... April fools came a day late as I foolishly fractured my pinkie finger - clearly it was a minor bc 3 days later I ran a 3:17 at the Southampton marathon - sorted. The lads got back together and continued to develop new songs for the setlist - this time math rock waltz "Heaven's Co-ordinates" began to take shape. A few days later Tiago climbed the stepladder to success, and over coffee we discuss Hegalian dialecticals - rehearsal finished 5 minutes early as a pot of tuna chunks 2 miles away was boiling. We also had at "Not Worth Hearing" and got a pretty decent new arrangement off the ground but for morale reasons it has been shelved, for the time being. "Watch the changes".. "jazz". I went round with a tote...

March Newsletter

Image
How I wish to stave off thirst In a world where capital is valued so highly, the destruction of human life becomes collateral damage.  Hello my spring chickens... and welcome to the Four Blokes Newsletter for March. The days are warmer and flowers are in bloom - rain and wind subside for sunshine. Ecologically speaking these are the recent events - but what's going on with the band? New full colour photo of Tiago F irst order of business in March - the initial announcement of the announcement. 1 weeks time, a press conference in London Town.. the abode of former bloke Two Puff Tommy as well as Ed, of Auden and Escher fame. What could we want with these scruffs, these Dagenham and Redbridge hooligans! Well - it could not be revealed due to the disappearance of a 90-layer digital illustration of some forget-me-nots. The masses of fans desperately anticipating the word of Four Blokes would have to wait... The boys reconvened and returned to rehearsals, even if the public were n...

Feburary Newsletter

Image
How the mighty fall to their knees Hello me old muckers... stinking up the joint, scaring other people trying to use the public restroom with smell alone. Feburary was a bit of a dud in the end. Nothing disastrously bad happened - and disastrously bad things DO frequently happen to this band - but progress was slow... Working on a song - part 1 of 2 The highlight of the month would have to be the composition of our first Spanish language song "Una Vida, Con Ella", not only due to it's flamenco rhythms and cherryade coloured melody but also as it is the final song to be written for the second album. God knows what I will write for now - possibly an arthouse solo album exclusively for release via satellite. "Una Vida, Con Ella" was written at a keyboard for a semi-acoustic guitar using a mix of pre-exisiting knowledge of the Spanish language and Google translate. Don't worry, I had our resident Iberian check it all over... my Spanish is spic and span. Below ...

January Newsletter

Image
Me, after having some of "it" Hello my little gyozas - hope you are all well! Dripping with soy's sauce... yummy 😋  January is a desolate winter month when hardly anything grows - the trees are bare and cancerous and the sun seldom shines. Despite this we were able to do a pretty solid chunk of behind the scenes work at Four Blokes to kick off the new year. I woke up on January 1st with gnarly elbow wounds - I had fallen off my bike in a drunken state of bewilderment. After little to no medical care, I went and worked the last shift of my Tesco's Crimbo Contract...  Screenshot of it all The freedom of unemployment gave me ample time to tinker with my keyboard and I made a little arrangement for a song I'd written a few months ago called "I've Settled On Molly" - it starts off housey with a four to the floor beat on a Roland TR-909 drum machine. The bridge goes a bit ambient, and from there on it we're into wicked Jungle territory, breakbeats a...
