March Newsletter

Image
How I wish to stave off thirst In a world where capital is valued so highly, the destruction of human life becomes collateral damage.  Hello my spring chickens... and welcome to the Four Blokes Newsletter for March. The days are warmer and flowers are in bloom - rain and wind subside for sunshine. Ecologically speaking these are the recent events - but what's going on with the band? New full colour photo of Tiago F irst order of business in March - the initial announcement of the announcement. 1 weeks time, a press conference in London Town.. the abode of former bloke Two Puff Tommy as well as Ed, of Auden and Escher fame. What could we want with these scruffs, these Dagenham and Redbridge hooligans! Well - it could not be revealed due to the disappearance of a 90-layer digital illustration of some forget-me-nots. The masses of fans desperately anticipating the word of Four Blokes would have to wait... The boys reconvened and returned to rehearsals, even if the public were n...

Feburary Newsletter

Image
How the mighty fall to their knees Hello me old muckers... stinking up the joint, scaring other people trying to use the public restroom with smell alone. Feburary was a bit of a dud in the end. Nothing disastrously bad happened - and disastrously bad things DO frequently happen to this band - but progress was slow... Working on a song - part 1 of 2 The highlight of the month would have to be the composition of our first Spanish language song "Una Vida, Con Ella", not only due to it's flamenco rhythms and cherryade coloured melody but also as it is the final song to be written for the second album. God knows what I will write for now - possibly an arthouse solo album exclusively for release via satellite. "Una Vida, Con Ella" was written at a keyboard for a semi-acoustic guitar using a mix of pre-exisiting knowledge of the Spanish language and Google translate. Don't worry, I had our resident Iberian check it all over... my Spanish is spic and span. Below ...

January Newsletter

Image
Me, after having some of "it" Hello my little gyozas - hope you are all well! Dripping with soy's sauce... yummy 😋  January is a desolate winter month when hardly anything grows - the trees are bare and cancerous and the sun seldom shines. Despite this we were able to do a pretty solid chunk of behind the scenes work at Four Blokes to kick off the new year. I woke up on January 1st with gnarly elbow wounds - I had fallen off my bike in a drunken state of bewilderment. After little to no medical care, I went and worked the last shift of my Tesco's Crimbo Contract...  Screenshot of it all The freedom of unemployment gave me ample time to tinker with my keyboard and I made a little arrangement for a song I'd written a few months ago called "I've Settled On Molly" - it starts off housey with a four to the floor beat on a Roland TR-909 drum machine. The bridge goes a bit ambient, and from there on it we're into wicked Jungle territory, breakbeats a...

Christmas Newletter 2024

Image
Hello hello and a happy Christmas, I trust my letter finds you well - and by well I mean ensnared by vice and falling asleep on a sofa, plotting the next massive family argument. Reflection is befitting of this time of year, we are all sentimental from drink and Wallace and Gromit creating an opportune moment to look back on all the happy memories and all we have achieved. Yes there were many miserable memories and many things that went unachieved but sorrow is as fleeting as a leaf on a breeze. Shall we look back on Four Blokes's 2024? I do believe we shall... Supporting Belle Dame, 21st January 2024 The year began as it often does with January- in a cold dirty shed with only a three-wheeled radiator for warmth, Four Blokes began rehearsal for their first concert appearance of the year - opening for Belle Dame at "The Joiners". With George playing another gig the same day with One Lung.... snore... (apologies reader - I am merely drowsy from excess wine consumption and...

My Great Big Feckin’ Farm

Image
Four Blokes   MY GREAT BIG FECKIN’ FARM Back in 2022, a band of teenage upstarts filed into a shed at the bottom of a backyard in Sholing to begin recording their debut album. 3 years later - after several lifetimes of joy and terror alike - it is finally ready for release. Our production team of Tiago Martins (who also plays most of the instruments on this record) and Finn Darke have lovingly scraped the rust off these relics and made them properly rocking. The 14 songs contained within will take you on a journey for the senses; musically there are overtones of punk rock but the refined pallete will pick up on notes of reggae, funk, nu-metal and even the occasional waltz. On the lyrical front you will hear adventures of dogging, tales of femme fatales and accidental infidels, and the most instances of the word Munter in a commercially released song. Catchy choruses with tounge firmly in cheek, apart from the occasional heartfelt moment of love... "My Great Big Feckin' Farm...
